Directed by Jan de Bont, The Cradle of Life is the second chapter of the Lara Croft franchise, following the fearless archaeologist across three continents in a race to prevent a secret chamber beneath the ocean from unleashing a deadly ancient force upon the world.
The T-Touch was selected directly by Paramount Pictures to appear in the film, making it a rare case of a watch chosen specifically for its real-world capabilities rather than its looks. By simply touching the crystal, the wearer can activate an altimeter, barometer, thermometer, compass, chronograph and alarm — exactly the toolkit a globe-trotting adventurer would need. The watch appears most clearly 57 minutes into the film, when Lara activates the compass mode via the touchscreen, causing the hands to swing from time mode to compass position — a function that genuinely works on the real watch.
The specific reference is the T33159851, a steel case with black dial mounted on a brown leather strap — a combination that was custom-made for the film and never available for retail purchase. The green T-logo on the dial identifies it as a first-generation T-Touch; Tissot later updated it to red on subsequent versions.
The same watch followed Angelina Jolie off the Tomb Raider set — she also wore a Tissot T-Touch in Mr. & Mrs. Smith, making it something of a personal signature piece across her action roles of that era.
